British Gas Redundancies 2026: Around 1,300 Roles

Centrica, the owner of British Gas, announced a round of job cuts in July 2026 concentrated in its customer contact centres, as fewer customers contacted the business by phone.
What has been publicly announced
Centrica announced on 23 July 2026 that it would cut around 1,300 jobs over two years, with around 500 of those contact-centre roles across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Leicester, Stockport and Leeds, as inbound call volumes were reported to have fallen by around 31% since 2023.

What you are entitled to regardless of what Centrica (British Gas) offers
